Why Etiquette Matters

Good manners go beyond table settings. They shape how people move through the world. At Main Street Manners, students build the soft skills that support every aspect of life, including:

  • Confidence in how they speak, listen, and carry themselves.

  • Poise under pressure in interviews, classrooms, and social settings.

  • Empathy & awareness in how they treat others, and themselves.

These are more than etiquette lessons. These are life skills that foster connection, leadership and respect at school, at work, at home, on Main Street, and beyond.

About Main Street Manners

Rebecca Bahr of Main Street Manners, wearing a black blazer and black top, posed against a plain gray background.

It’s the little things that count, a simple thank you, a firm handshake, looking a person in the eyes when speaking with them; basic civility in this increasingly busy and complicated world.

Main Street Manners goes beyond use of knife and fork as it shows that all interactions are meaningful - in school, at work, at home, on Main Street and beyond.

Main Street Manners was created by Rebecca Bahr. Rebecca is an etiquette educator and communication coach with years of experience working with students, schools, and private clubs. Her work blends tradition with real-world relevance to help young people thrive.

A handwritten thank you note addressed to Mrs. Bahr, dated 11/28, expressing gratitude for teaching good manners, mentioning a favorite part about covering the mouth when coughing or yawning, and wishing a happy holiday, signed by Mackenzie.

It’s never too early to learn good manners.
